Ladies, You’ve Been Putting Your Bra On Wrong For Years And We Have Proof

I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but as it turns out- we have been putting our bras on wrong for years now. How do I know? Because I got the shock of my life the other day when I read a viral tweet by Britney Packett. She bought some underwear from the lingerie brand ThirdLove and posted this picture.

I don’t know about you gals, but I have not been last-hooking my bra for years. I did whatever felt comfortable, and I’m sure you have been doing the same thing too. So, what’s wrong with that?

I was about to dismiss all this nonsense when HuffPost interviewed Ra’el Cohen, ThirdLove’s head of design. You don’t have to trust me, but you can trust Cohen, she’s an expert.

She says, and I quote: ““Most women I talk to are wearing a band that’s too large for them… Basically, if you wear a brand new bra on any other hook than the loosest, you’re probably in too big a band size.””

I feel like this is something we should have learned at school. But, there are many things that we haven’t learned that we really should have. But along with the mindblowing-ness of this situation, there is some very good news.

This is what else Cohen has to say:

“When you put on a brand new bra, the fabric is brand new, it has all of its elasticity… When you put it on the loosest hook, it should feel snug on your body. Because after you wear it for about a week, you’ll start to feel it’s a bit more stretchy. If you wear it on the loosest in the beginning, that allows you two more adjustments as the bra stretches out. You are basically getting more life out of your bra.”

So, wearing your bra the right way means you get to wear it for longer. That means less money on bras and more money for food!

If you’re feeling a little shell-shocked, then you aren’t alone. Most of the women on the internet are feeling the same way. Oh well, you live and you learn.
