25 things you should definitely know about the Big Bang Theory.

So you think you know everything about your favorite show? But did you know that Jim Parson’s nickname is Jimmy Pea or that he does research on his lines to know what they actually mean?

It’s always fun to know a little bit more than usual so that you are packed with more than just the spoilers. Right?

And that’s exactly why we bring you some fun facts that are recommended for you only you are a true fan of The Big Bang Theory. So it’s time to take your The Big Bang Theory obsession to a whole new level!

 

 1. Penny was initially played by Amanda Walsh.

Penny’s character was entirely different from what we now see today. Walsh played  ‘a hypersexual, a bit more raunchy version of Penny.’In an unaired episode of TBBT titled’ Pilot”, Amanda played Katie while there were no such characters like Raj and Howard. The test audience didn’t like her character as she seemed too rude to our innocent scientists.

2. Mayim Bialik is the only member with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience.

Mayim Bialik is the only member with an education in neuroscience from the University of California, Los Angeles and she makes sure that all the scientific theories proposed in the show are accurate.

3. Jim Parsons is not a Star Trek Fan.

While Sheldon Cooper is a hardcore Trekkie, Jim Parsons is not. In fact, he has not watched a single show!

4. The birth of ‘Bazinga’ was on sets by the show writer himself.

There have been many speculations about the origin of the term ‘Bazinga’ that Sheldon often uses after pulling a prank on his ‘lesser evolved’ friends. Turns out the show writer Stephen Engels came up with the term as a part of a recurring practical joke that involved taping a hollowed out grapefruit back together. ‘ I’d open it up and he’d say ‘bazinga”’ said Bill Prady, the executive producer.”It was Stephen’s word for gotcha”. And that’s how we got Bazinga.

5. Every Episode is named after a scientific theory.

The writers went for an innovative way of naming each episode on a scientific theory. However, the episode unaired episode ‘Pilot’ is the only exception.

6. There is only one set of stairs.

In the T.V. it might seem that there are multiple floors with multiple stairs in their building, in reality, it is not so. It’s the same staircase redressed as different floors of the building.

7. No one knows Penny’s last name.

The show has still not revealed Penny’s last name. the show’s executive producer Steve Molaro said, ” We are kind of a suspicious lot here. We have made it this far without knowing Penny’s last name. I think we are good not finding out”

8. ‘Soft Kitty’ is an actual song.

The catchy ‘Soft Kitty’ song which is used in the show to comfort Sheldon and put him to sleep is a real song. Prady revealed that it was from his daughter’s school.

9. Leonard wears fake glasses.

Unlike Leonard, Johnny Galecki doesn’t have a bad eyesight. So if you look closely, you will find that he only wear frames which do not have glasses on them.

10. Bialik’s character ‘Blossom’ is referred twice on the show.

Mayim Bialik’s childhood character ‘Blossom’ from the Tv sitcom ‘Blossom’ is mentioned by Raj when he suggests that they invite the Blossom to join their bowling team. Another time, in Season 6 while compiling a list of potential couple costumes, Sheldon and Amy include the names of Blossom and Joey in the list along with Dharma and Greg, which was another creation by Chuck Lorre.

11. There’s an official science advisor who checks that the science in the show is right.

The reason why the science that’s exciting to Sheldon is right, it’s because of UCLA professor David Saltzberg. He makes sure that every formula and theory used are accurate. Saltzberg studies high-energy particle physics and high-energy neutrino astronomy.

12. Bernadette’s voice is made up.

Bernadette’s high pitched voice is actually an impersonification of Melissa’s mother’s voice. She does it perfectly. “Only without the Jersey! Tonally, it’s very similar,” the actress said at the PaleyFest panel in 2013.

13. Raj’s women problem is not exclusive to Raj.

Raj’s characteristic of only being able to talk to women after getting drunk is actually based on the executive producer Bill Prady’s old coworker, who has the same problem.

14. John Galecki and Kaley Cuoco dated in real life.

The actors dated for ‘almost two years’ We love the chemistry between Leonard and Penny and part of it is because they dated in real life too. ‘It was such a huge part of my life and no one knew about it.’ Kaley said.

15. ‘Pilot’ was completely different than the TBBT.

The unaired episode ‘pilot’ had an entirely different plot than today’s TBBT. According to the creators, the show had two awkward scientists, Leonard and Sheldon, who invite a drunk girl Katie to stay with them as she had nowhere to go. The whole episode was scrapped and only the characters Leonard and Sheldon were kept.

16. Jim Parson’s failed a science class in college.

Jim Parson is nothing like Sheldon Cooper. He even admits to failing a meteorology class in college.

17. The number 73 on Sheldon’s shirts is not a random digit.

There’s a special connection between the number and the actor. It is actually the year when the star was born i.e. 1973.

It was earlier called ‘Lenny, Penny, and Kenny’ before creators settled with the ‘Big Bang Theory’.

21. Sheldon’s T-shirts reflect his mood.

Red color? Yep. Our Shelly is up for some anger peeps! The color of Sheldon T-shirts actually reflects his mood on the show.

22. All the actors know how to play their instruments.

Our actors are way too talented. During the musical sequences of the Big Bang scenes, there’s no fake playing. Every actor how to play their instrument. Bialik plays the harp, Parson’s on the theremin and Galecki on the piano.

23. A prequel to TBBT will be released this September.

In an upcoming spinoff, fans will get to see a young 9-year old Sheldon while the adult voiceover will be provided by Jim Parsons.

24. The photos on Penny’s fridge are of cast and crew.

A closer look and zoom-in to Penny’s refrigerator will show that these are actually the actress’ pictures with the show’s cast and crew, some of them include picture’s with Leonard, Amy, and Bernadette.
